Student Feedback

I ask for feedback quite frequently. The feedback might be on a type of assessment or the support they got on a project; or at the end of the semester, When I ask the students to reflect on how I taught. I may even ask for feedback at the beginning of the semester. I earn students' trust to talk freely about what they like and don’t like about my teaching. I use it as an opportunity to address issues explaining why something was done in a certain way, to highlight how in one class there can be different points of view, to getting tips on being a better teacher. How do I get students to give me this feedback? I tell them it is one of the highlights of my year, that it means a lot to me, that it may not make me a better teacher immediately, but it might for future classes and year levels. Last but least - I have given them honest feedback therefore, they should take the time to give feedback.

In the video below, you will see students talking openly and honestly about how I am in the classroom.
