How do you help students learn about others?
Over the years I have worked with a range of texts to help students understand learners with special needs and what they are going through. This includes, "Flowers for Algernon" by Daniele Keyes Cynthia Rylant's story " A Crush", " The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nightime" by Mark Haddon. Follow on tasks have included projects like developing educational brochures for other students in the school to plays and performances that educate about tolerance, anti bullying and understanding what others might be experiencing or how differently the world is perceived by others. I have also looked at the work of Stela Young.

I strongly believe that our young people are far more intelligent and more empathetic than we give them credit for. They are deserving of far more respect than what we give them.
