Lions and Tigers

At first, I thought lions and tigers are the same animal. When I look closely again, they're actually not that similar. Lions and tigers have a lot of differences if you look closely. They have a difference in their physical features, behavior, and they're species. For example, tigers have black stripes and lions don't. They both may look that they have the same size but, lions are actually a few centimeters shorter than a tiger. Also, lions and tigers are both one of the fiercest animals. This essay will include the similarities and differences of a lion and a tiger in behavior, physical features, and taxonomy.

These two animals have a very similar taxonomy, the only difference in this category is they're species. They both come from the same kingdom, Animalia. They also belong to the same phylum, Chordata. Both lion and tiger have the same class, Mammalia. Other than that, they have the same order, Carnivora and family, Felidae. Until genus, they also have the same type which is Panthera. Finally, the species is what distinguishes them. The lion's species is Leo, while the tiger's species is Tigris.

Not only taxonomy, but lions and tigers also have differences in terms of physical features. Even if it's not that clear, both lions and tigers have physical features that distinguish them from one another. Both feature sharp and retractable claws, as well as sharp and dangerous fangs, they have basically the same paws, and whiskers like cats in general. There are some obvious differences that we can see between lions and tigers. Lions have a plain light brown skin color, while tigers have a unique orange skin color with black stripes. Lions, on the other hand, have manes, which are special fur around their faces and necks. However, 2 Hidayat only male lions have manes, female lions do not. If we look from a distance, the lion is taller than the tiger. Male lions height is around 2.1 meters, while male tigers height is 2.2 meters. Lions appeared to be taller than tigers due to their manes. Tigers are higher than lions, but lions are heavier. Male lions weigh around 150 - 230 kilograms and female lions weigh around 120 - 180 kilograms. On the other side, male tigers weigh around 100 - 260 kilograms, while female tigers weigh around 65 - 80 kilograms.

Lastly, we can find differences between these animals by their behaviors. After every hunt, lions and tigers require rest, and they do not all sleep at the same time. Lions sleep 16 - 20 hours per day, while tigers sleep 20 - 21 hours per day. Evening is the time for lions to hunt and at nights it's the tigers turn to hunt. Lions avoid animals that they think are dangerous. Tigers do what lions don't, which is going to a river every day to swim. They do this to cool down when the weather is too hot. When lions see a prey, they just go and try to kill it, but tigers don't do that. They have a good strategy which is they use the forests as camouflage.

In conclusion, these two animals are not the same. Even if they mostly have the same taxonomy, they have different species. Lion is Leo and the tiger is Tigris. It shows that lions have light brown skin and tigers have orange skin with black stripes. Lions are most likely to hunt in the evening. Different from the tigers, they hunt when night comes. With all of this in mind, it's safe to state that lions and tigers are different animals. Source: https://animals.mom.com/natural-habitat-of-siberian-tigers-12325177.html
